Hello everyone!! My name is Kristy and I am 28 years old, and very happily married to my best friend in the world. I work full-time, and attend college part-time.
Now that the standard stuff is out of the way, let me tell you how my fitness journey began. At 27, 5'3" tall, I topped the scales at 175lbs...I had only ever been that big one time, and I was pregnant with twins. That was unacceptable. I immediately made a decision that something had to change.
Dearly Beloved and I had changed our eating habits some time before that: gluten /dairy free, no processed foods, etc. We live about 85-90% Paleo. So I was almost certain food wasn't the problem (it certainly was part of it, I learned later), so I got myself a manual treadmill aound Christmas time, 2013 and found a workout regimen online. I stuck to it too, for a while. :)

Within months, I got bored. That is what happens with me...I get bored. I was finally seeing results, had lost over 20lbs (YAY!!) and just stopped. UGH! That is my M.O., however. That is what I do. Then, I found a new thing that I was thrilled with: the Pilates Power Gym. I bought one, and so my fitness journey began again. I signed up for the fitnesschannel.com so I could use the Pilates Power Gym videos, and I was up almost every morning in the garage, hitting the power gym. Then...one day...I was bored again.
I started running. I used to run, years ago, and knew how much I still loved it. I have a friend in Hawaii who runs, and reading her posts all the time really inspired me to get back out there. I had to get out there and run. So I got some running shoes (those are important! If you are going to run, there is little else, if anything, more important than GOOD shoes!) and it was on and crackin. So I ran. And I ran, and I ran. Keep in mind, I was still overweight, and getting my weight down is important for my health. All of a sudden my weight loss came to a standstill. Nothing- week after week, stepping on the scale, getting discouraged. Then I read about HIIT, and why I wasn't losing weight. I began doing HIIT, and loved it. It's intense! Look up HIIT. HIIT is awesome. =)
Then-tragedy. So soon after beginning running again, I got this horrible pain in my foot, and that was it. I haven't ran since. I grew quite depressed. I loved to run. I could feel the pain when I walked, but when I ran it caused a limp and was unbearable. I was crushed.
I was on Facebook one day, on the iPad, and I saw an app notification for this app called FitStar. (Huh). It said free. (Maybe I should check it out). So I checked it out. It was amazing! I signed up, did my fitness test, and it was on from there. FitStar is my current program, and for someone like myself who gets bored easily, sticking to any one thing for a while is a feat (I signed up for Premium, which is not free. The app is free, and so is Basic). I was in love with FitStar, but it stopped working for me. I had to change AGAIN.
I found TribeSports, and that is currently what I use to keep track of my fitness and goals. I have begun using Beach Body, also, but mostly for the programs they offer. I am in LOVE with Les Mills Combat!!

Food. Food is the balance factor. You can NOT out train a bad diet. PERIOD. You can't train PROPERLY without FUEL. Food is fuel for your body. Carbs, fats (good fats. not processed/trans fats) all these things we have always been told were BAD, are things our bodies need (I don't mean carbs from grains. You can get carbs elsewhere). As I said earlier, food definitely played a role in me gaining so much weight. Sounds like it should have been obvious, but we were very conscious of what we put in our bodies. My issue, mainly, was portion control. That was the key. It wasn't necessarily what I was eating, it was how much. I was eating entirely too much.
I had to become very conscious of how much I was eating, even more so over what I was eating since we were already so conscious of what we ate. Food is the key people. Our bodies are machines, flesh machines, and they need fuel. Period. Depriving your body of necessary nutrients because a fad diet said it will cause you to lose weight will only lead to failure and quite possibly gaining back more weight than you lost. Don't deprive yourself. Love yourself.
Because I love you too. :)
I haven't reached my goals yet, but I'm well on my way. Thank you for coming along and allowing me to share my fitness/health journey with you. :) Stick around, because this woman will be successful. :)
