3-Day Smoothie Challenge

So I have decided that I am going to do my own challenge.  3 days of smoothies.  If I can go 3, why not 7?  They say that the first 3 days are the hardest, so if I can make it through the 3, I am going to go for 7.  I will be sure to keep everyone posted on my progress!

I have been fighting inner demons again lately...seems to be something I am incapable of fighting on my own.  Fitness and healthy eating are the key...and that is part of the reason I am going to do this 3 day challenge.  I need to know that I can do it...it is more mental than physical, I think.

I have two real passions in life: fitness/health, and photography. I am going to school for photography, and plan to pursue a career in the field once I graduate.  I am not a people person, really, so I prefer to shoot nature and landscapes. Or food. :)  I love shooting food.  #TeamEatFoodGetFit was started because I know that people don't need to DIET, they just need to eat real food. REAL food is the key to maintaining as well as losing weight. But I am getting off topic.... :)

School, a full-time job where I weekly bring in over 40 hours can be mentally draining.  Fitness and photography have been my rock...even when I haven't worked out (being too depressed, which I know is a catch-22) I have stayed plugged in with my world-wide Fitstar friends. Being a part of something that spans the globe and brings so many people from so many different lifestyles and cultures together is very humbling. I am beyond grateful for them. :)

Has anyone else done a smoothie detox or short-term diet?                          I am curious to hear about what others have done, and what has worked for them.  I will be using leafy greens from my garden, as well as some store-bought stuff I have in the fridge right now.  I am also going to use flax seeds. It should be interesting.

Again, I will keep everyone updated on my progress.  I will post again after day 3. :)

Just Saw Progress!!

I keep my scale in the cupboard under my bathroom sink.  This keeps it "out of site, out of mind" so to speak.  If not I will step on it 5 times a day and get pissed I don't see any progress.

I have got it down to about once every 2 weeks.  The last time I stepped on it was June 12, before today.

I stepped on it today and I have lost another whopping FIVE POUNDS!! I am so excited.  I was getting in the shower and looked in the mirror and could see a difference, then I remembered the scale. =) Stepped on it and BOOM!  I am very happy.  So that makes 5 pounds since I started FitStar.  I can live with 5 pounds in 2 weeks.  I can't understand people who deprive themselves to get to where they want to be, only to gain it back once they have succeeded.

This morning's breakfast smoothie. Spinach,
Kale, Cucumber, Apple, and a few Mixed
Berries, 15g of protein powder and almond milk.=)
This happens, because people lose the weight, then go back to old habits. I don't eliminate carbs, or fats (other than those CREATED by processing food).  I eat little to nothing processed. I will go with little, because there are a few things I eat (damn you Ben and Jerry's for going non-GMO!! Ice cream will be the death of me. Ha!  I'm allowed one vice, don't judge me. LOL) that are processed.

I am absolutely beyond stoked that I have lost another 5 pounds. I had to share that with you wonderful people. =)

I will be posting a real post soon. In the mean time, be sure to check out FitStar!  You can find the links below. =)

First Real Post! (In This Blog) =)

Decided that I needed to get myself into gear! =) Especially since I won't need to move my posts here from the other blog. I am thinking about changing the template again…but I haven't yet got any feedback, so I am going to wait a little longer =)  (UPDATE!! I changed it anyways. LOL)

This morning, I was up on schedule, at 5:35 to workout with Tony Gonzalez and the FitStar team. Today was…Back & Arms/Shoulders. It was good, but it really seems like ever since we finished the 10 day Challenge, that the workouts in my program seem…too…easy. LOL. The challenge was all freestyle sessions, and some of them were intense! I love it and it was an awesome way to become acquainted with the freestyle sessions. I am still relatively new to FitStar. =)

Once you have friends on FitStar, it makes all the difference to the experience. Having that feedback from your workout buddies is awesome. And we can still workout on our own schedule. =) OK, enough about FitStar…in this post. =)

Post workout:
I drink my breakfast. Yup, drink it. Fruits and veggies, as well as a whey protein powder. I really don't have a specific set of ingredients, or specific measurements for the ingredients. I am just going to tell you what I threw in the bullet today. J

In a tall bullet cup, add (in order):
  • Spinach (about half a cup. Smush it in there. It is ok if it is packed down)
  • Kale (same as with the spinach. Cup should be just over half full with greens)
  • A whole, chopped and de-seeded apple (small fuji)
  • Mixed berry blend (strawberries, raspberries, blue berries) almost to the top.
  • Fill to the fill line with almond milk
  • ½ scoop of whey protein. ½ scoop because it's 30g protein to a scoop.
Stick it on the base, and give it a whirl. I had to shake it down a bit after it started to unpack the greens, but then continued to blend until blended fully. Now, keep in mind that I only have a Magic Bullet, which doesn't work nearly as well as the Nutri Bullet. I actually am going to be getting the Cook Pro from JC Penny's, because it has a stronger motor than even the Nutri Bullet, and costs the same as the Magic Bullet. You're welcome. =)

That is it for today. I'll be back tomorrow. =)
